The Rolling Hills of Tuscany…part 2

San Gimignano.jpgMaira (1 of 1).jpgMaira (1 of 1)-2.jpgMaira (1 of 1)-3.jpg

Well I’ve been hard at it since my return and seriously behind in getting my images from Italy edited. The catalogues and ad work pays bills and has a much tighter deadline than my own personal work, but that is life.

Part two starts with a landscape shot of San Gimignano ‘the Manhattan of Tuscany’, famed for it’s many towers some of which are still standing.

We then have three shots of the lovely Maira at the Fortezza Medicea in Cortona. We shot all day there with both Maiira and her sister Nicole.

Fair Use Repurposing and Mr Brainwash

Looks like Mr Brainwash lost his legal battle. This has me of two minds. As a photographer its good to see that our rights are being recognized and protected. As a fan there wouldn’t be bands like Run DMC if remixing was not allowed on some level.

The Rolling Hills of Tuscany

Well it’s been a hectic couple of weeks over here at Matador. We’ve travelled to Italy and back on a photography excursion of epic  porportions. Capturing gigs of images of beautiful models under the Tuscan sun. Many thanks to Mark Laurie of Inner-Spirit Photography, one of Canada’s top nude photographers, for putting the whole thing together.

I’ve still got many hours of editing to do but I’ve included here a couple of photos for a teaser.

Managed to capitalize on the nice weather last weekend with a trip out to BC and this years first hike. Something easy and scenic was the prerequsite and the Lower Bugaboo Falls fit the bill.

Here are a couple photos.

I and several local Calgary photographers teamed up with Mark Laurie and Inner Spirit Photography to photograph this years Mother’s Day Run. This years run was marked by the passing of the Forzani family matriarch Audrey Forzani. Audrey, a lifelong and 97 year resident of Calgary served as the runs honorary mother since its inception.

Urban Biker and Beatroute Magazine

We teamed up last week with Calgary’s Kamil Krulis to create some images for his latest Beatroute Magazine article. He was doing a piece on urban biking and wanted some pics of some cruisers on a plaza setting. He recruited Taylor, Lauren, Lara, Betty and Melissa to model for us.

Originally we were discussing a futuristic or brutal apocyliptic look, but Taylor’s bright red sweater seemed just a tad too hopeful for that so we ended up with more of what I think  to be a 60′s sci-fi feel.

PPOC Canadian Imaging Conference

The Duellist_a.jpg

Attended my first PPOC National Conference last week out in Banff, Alberta. I know, not so far for me to go but still an exellent excuse to spend 5 days in the Rockies.

This event was a whirlwind of photographic instruction and networking. From sunrise to sunset. Got to see, meet and listen to some very fine photographers. From Matthew Jordan Smith, Art Wolfe, Jim Divitale, Tim & Beverly Walden, Joseph and Louise Simone and many more.

Also, my photo submission to this years image competition, The Duellist, received a Merit award.

Sport Chek Ski Cross

Went up to Lake Louise last weekend to photograph the Sport Chek Ski Cross. A two day event featuring down hill racing madness where competitors ski  four at a time. Calgary’s weekend blizzard kept me from making it to the hill on Saturday but a clearing of the skies and melting of the snow allowed for some Sunday photography.
